Rapid Fire Q&A: ?

Q. What Trader has influenced your career the most and why?
A. Tom Sosnoff – founder of ThinkorSwim, tastytrade.com, Dough Inc. – Like a lot of traders that watch / listen to TastyTrade, Tom was an inspiration. Tom was the original voice (for me) that promoted selling premium vs. purchasing it. As a long time option trader, and technical trader, I had spent years trying to catch a sling shot trade, bank on reversals, buy ATHs or short them. Even though I made a little money here and there, it felt like I was dragging a rock uphill… Until I started taking advantage of implied volatility, time decay, and option probabilities.

Q. What was one of the hardest things for you to overcome in Trading?
A. My Ego.

Q. How has your trading process evolved over the years?
A. When I started I was a stock picker. I used technical analysis, news, and corporate research to find my trade. Now I rely on raw numbers. Numbers tell the story, and derivatives are the ultimate database.

Q. What is one attribute that you believe every trader should have?
A. Humility.

Q. Favorite Book about Trading?
A. Fooled by Randomness – Nassim Taleb

Q. If you had to pick a profession other than trading, what would it be?
A. DJ / Musician
Q. What’s the best advice you received about Trading?
A. Make a decision, before you are FORCED to make a decision.

Q. If you can give a piece of advice to the younger you about trading, what would it be?
A. Don’t short naked.

Q. If you had to elevator pitch me your edge trading, what would you say?
A. Implied volatility is the edge. We use derivates to reduce our net exposure to volatility in the digital asset world, and create an intelligent way to invest in cryptocurrencies.

Q. Favorite thing to do when not Trading?
A. Build my van and travel.
